About FlyRulebook

FlyRulebook is an independent travel resource that makes airline baggage fees and policies easy to understand before you book or fly. Airfare looks cheap until the bag fees, seat charges, and change penalties pile up. We lay out exactly what each airline charges, in plain language, so there are no surprises at the gate — currently across 118+ airlines worldwide, plus a growing library of in-depth guides that explain how the fees work and how to pay less.

Who this is for

Anyone who has ever stood at a check-in desk doing anxious mental math about a bag. Budget-airline flyers comparing a €40 fare against a €46 gate fee, families trying to pool allowances, and occasional travelers who just want to know whether their cabin bag is going to be a problem. If you have wondered “wait, is this bag included?”, this site is for you.

How we research & verify

Every airline guide is built from that airline's own official baggage and fee pages — the primary source — and we link to those pages so you can check for yourself. Our process for each guide is deliberately boring, because boring is what keeps it accurate:

• We read the airline's current published allowances and fee tables, not third-party summaries.
• We record the personal-item and carry-on dimensions, checked-bag pricing, weight limits, and the common “gotcha” fees (gate bags, excess, oversize, seats).
• Because fees change often and vary by route, fare type, and date, we prefer ranges (“about”) over false precision, and we date every guide so you can see how fresh it is.
• When a policy changes or a reader flags something, we re-check the official source and update the guide and its date.

Editorial standards

Guides are written to be genuinely useful, not to chase keywords. We aim for clarity over completeness-for-its-own-sake: the goal is that you can get your answer in seconds and trust it. We do not accept payment from airlines to change what a guide says, and our fee figures are never sponsored. Where a detail is uncertain or varies widely, we say so rather than pretending otherwise — and we always point you back to the airline's official page as the final word.

The site is free to read and supported by advertising and, in some places, affiliate links to travel products (for example, travel eSIMs or airport transfers). If you buy through one of those links we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That never influences the fee information in a guide.
